Swan Creek

and we're almost through the holidays! i took today off from work and went on a walk with vimala and anthony around swan creek. we mostly had the whole park all to ourselves!

i've had so many holiday gatherings this month, a goofy sweater party with friends, a swanky cocktail friends gathering, the winter solstice, christmas eve with my giant extended family, christmas morning with anthony's family, and christmas day with my family... on and on! the winter solstice is special in my family. my dad's cousin organizes a shriving ceremony each year to celebrate the solstice, pass candle light and welcome our ambitions for the coming year.

i want 2015 to be fresh and inspiring. i'm ready to embrace change and perhaps a next big step... like buying a little house for my 25th birthday. yeah a whole house! my goal is at least to start the process, work on my financing, annnnd let's see where i can go from there. for the same "rent" i pay now - i could be paying a mortgage and building my assets! big kid talk.

a free day?

Hi hello!

After a 54 hour work week i'm back to say hello! Between working and kitten cuddles, i haven't had time to document much of this season. But after this busy week i'm left with this off feeling of - now what? for the past few days i didn't have time for anything... but today, i had the whole day! and i felt bad about it. i felt useless instead of relaxed. So i spent today searching for a couple holiday gifts, playing with kittens, and making veggie chilli with my family. Sunday.

8 week old kitten joy. you can't have shoe laces AND kittens, that's too much to ask for.

this blonde kitten is the ultimate charmer and is going to become a company shop cat. we're thinking of naming him Jack.

back with my regular programing soon... :)

Kitten Therapy

A couple weeks later and couple weeks bigger.

Three weeks ago these guys needed to be bottle fed five times a day, they were tiny! We guessed possibly 3 1/2 weeks. We hit the milestone of kitten food this week, no more bottles! For feral warehouse kittens, i think they will be very sweet pets. They've had two dogs play mama and are very social! 6 weeks looks good on them. They play hard and nap hard. We have 4 boys, and one sweet little lady who doesn't care for all the rough play her brothers get into.

I'm convinced, kitten therapy is the best. Any stressful time can be soothed with a basket of tiny cats. Watching them run around is hilarious, and five kittens sleeping on you lap is heart melting.

In two more weeks they will be ripe for adoption and forever homes. But for now, I don't mind all the tiny cuts on my hands, they are precious. They have been attacking my laptop as i type... so to quote a kitten, "444444444444222 fffffffff."

Discovery in November

A chilly walk over the weekend around Discovery Park. Anthony threw a rock across a frozen pond and it made a magical spaceship noise that I've never heard before. Funny when you're caught off guard by such a simple discovery, skidding a rock across a frozen pond :)

My busy season at work is picking up, it will be crazy through the first weekend of December. We're also moving our 17,000 sq ft warehouse. My mama bought a new building! (more on this... sometime. I own 10%!). We moved our desks and computers over to the new space today. :)

I've been burning a lot of candles at home (this one is dreamy!), and cooking some yummy seasonal recipes. I highly recommend this Smokey Butternut Squash Pasta with Greens. Love sweater and boot weather.

Also, kittens. Wait until my next post. It will be cute overload. You're welcome in advance.

shaping the season

Yesterday was a day to run over to Vashon Island for lunch. We had giant sandwiches at Snapdragon Bakery, so good! Then coffee at The Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie . And finally a couple good walks... those sandwiches filled us for hours! We meet a pretty okay goat too!

A few cute things have happened recently... like a pile of itty bitty kittens. Same deal as my moms cats, feral warehouse BBs! I have a generous friend who offered to watch them for a few weeks because they need to be bottle fed. I was nervous when my co-workers first brought them into the office, these kitten were tiny! so tiny they weren't weened yet, ugh. But, we're getting there! they are just about 5-6 weeks (4 weeks when they were caught). soon they will be eating solid food and ready for new families! this is five fewer cats to procreate in the port where cats do not belong.
